Our new one-day workshop on leading and managing NHS serious incident investigations draws on the findings and recommendations of the Care Quality Commission report “Opening the door to change – NHS safety culture and the need for transformation” that was released earlier this year.
The training programme has been developed in collaboration with medical specialists and a general practitioner, and has been accredited by the Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP).
Further workshops will be held in November 2019 with more being planned for around the UK next year.
Serious Incidents in health care are adverse events, where the consequences to patients, families and carers, staff or organisations are so significant or the potential for learning is so great, that a heightened level of response is justified.

The workshop will enable participants develop and implement an NHS serious incident investigation strategy.
The workshop will also include a session on the key themes that come out of the NHS Patient Safety Strategy that was published in July 2019.
