Facebook and Cambridge Analytica

A reminder of the risks of corporate espionage and reputational damage that can be presented by material posted on social media.

The reporting this week of how Facebook and Cambridge Analytica may have exploited social media data (Socmed) reinforces the need for organisations to consider how postings on Socmed by employees can expose them to corporate espionage and damage reputation.

Open source intelligence (Osint) is being routinely harvested by hostile governments, organised crime groups and competitors and this creates a significant organisational risk. This is one of the reasons Futurum is rolling out a series of one day Social Media Awareness workshops across the UK this year.
