Counter Terrorism
Pursue, Prepare, Protect, Prevent (4Ps).
The head of our CT portfolio is a former UK Detective Chief Superintendent with SO15 (Counter Terrorism Command, London) who, having spent over 10 years within CT policing has extensive experience in responding to and investigating terrorism internationally as a Senior Investigating Officer (SIO) and working across the 4Ps. He has worked in close liaison with international partners. Recently he was the UK CT policing advisor to Queensland Police (Australia) throughout the 2018 Commonwealth Games and was the UK SO15 lead in relation to the Sri Lankan terrorist attacks in 2019.
He has extensive experience of developing, leading, and supporting capacity building and oversees our team who have current operational experience across all aspects of the 4Ps:
Pursue: We have former CT Senior Investigating Officers with experience of leading investigations with key partners across the UK and abroad to detect and prosecute terrorist offenders. They have the operational knowledge to command and control both covert and overt police operations.
Prepare: Our pool of former CT officers has knowledge and experience in developing cross cutting multi-agency CT exercises and testing capabilities in preparation for major events so as to mitigate the impact of an attack. We have designed a training programme using the scenario of a marauding terrorist attack where we are able to use live ammunition and explosives safely to add the element of realism to the learning experience.
Protect: We have former Counter Terrorism Security Advisors (CTSAs) who have developed best practice in strengthening protection against an attack in the UK and have delivered training to law enforcement and the private sector.
Prevent: We have former practitioners who are highly experienced in working with key partners and stakeholders to manage the threat posed by high-risk individuals. This includes countering terrorist ideologies and challenging those who promote them.
